Michigan Clean Cities activities include data gathering to understand market demand and potential as well as factors that impact demand, including vehicle, station, and fuel pricing. Special research projects include understanding economic activity potential resulting from a switch from petroleum based fuels to alternative fuels along clean fuel corridors (M2M Corridor Economic Activity Study) as well as workforce development and training to support job placement. Recurring activities include the annual clean transportation solution usage survey, quarterly alternative fuel pricing surveys, alternative fuel and EV station location tracking, and clean vehicle & filling station cost survey.

Michigan Clean Cities activities include technical assistance and support to drive adoption of clean transportation technologies and techniques. Ongoing initiatives include development of clean fuel filling stations (Interstate corridors and community/local hubs), fleet analysis and clean vehicle procurement planning, as well as identification and capture of funding to reduce out of pocket costs of clean fuel and vehicle adoption. Outreach and education activities are another key method for market development for clean transportation solutions.
