Michigan Clean Cities is working to ensure that the EV revolution is inclusive and meets general transportation needs. The Affordable Mobility Platform car sharing initiative is a pilot project that makes EVs available at an affordable cost for short-term use. This highly anticipated initiative has been in development since 2021, based on a similar effort in Portland, Oregon, and Rochester, New York. Forth is the project lead for the national AMP initiative with Mobility Development as the operator of the car share. Michigan Clean Cities and Elevate collaborated to identify and secure site hosts in Michigan, like Hollander Development in Kalamazoo. MICC continues to support membership growth and project sustainability along with Forth and Mobility Development.
“This is a critical point in the effort – to have vehicles and EV chargers ready to use,” said Maggie Striz Calnin, Michigan Clean Cities Director. “We are excited for people to use the cars in Kalamazoo and Portage and to launch cars in Ann Arbor and Detroit later this month.”
